It depends on where you live. Approval is set by your state and your local council. It turns on floor area, height, siting and setbacks, and on overlays such as bushfire, heritage, flooding and easements. Given the right care, Nordic spruce handles Australian weather well. It comes down to three things. How well you protect the timber, whether you use products suited to the job, and whether you keep up the maintenance.

Our carports are built from slow grown European spruce, kiln dried and sourced from FSC certified suppliers. Apply a quality exterior finish with UV protection as soon as the carport is built. Recoat on the schedule the manufacturer sets out. If you're in a bushfire or termite prone area, check your local requirements before you order. Ask us if you're not sure.

Treat the timber the way you would any exterior timber and it will keep looking good. Coat every face soon after assembly with a UV resistant exterior finish, and keep the base draining freely. Refresh the coating in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended schedule.

Timber moves with temperature and humidity, so check the frame fixings over the first few months and with the seasons after that. Keep leaves and surface water away from the base of the posts.

It is slow grown European spruce from FSC certified suppliers, kiln dried before machining. Slow growth gives tight growth rings and a denser, more stable timber. Posts and beams are less prone to twisting, cupping and splitting.

Yes, and most buyers do. Kits arrive flat-packed on pallets with pre-cut, numbered components, the fixings and an illustrated assembly guide. A confident DIYer with a helper, basic tools and a level base can put one up without specialist trades.

Posts and beams are heavy and the roof work is overhead. Line up a helper and do not attempt it on your own. If you would rather not build it, a local builder or handyperson can work from the same guide. Call us before you order if you want to walk through what is involved.

A firm, level base that drains well. A reinforced concrete slab is the usual choice. Concrete footings under each post are the other common approach.

Your carport arrives flat-packed on pallets by freight truck. We offer free freight to metro depots in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Request a freight quote if you live outside our free delivery zones.

From the depot you can pick up for free, or arrange delivery to your property with the depot. Items held in stock are dispatched within one to four business days. Made to order buildings take roughly eight to fourteen weeks. They're manufactured in Europe and shipped once your order is placed. It can be. The finish and your local rules decide it. Salt air is hard on fixings and coatings, so expect to recoat more often near the beach. Ask us about finish systems suited to that exposure.
