Yes. Many owners insulate the floor and roof, and sometimes the walls, then line the inside. Glazing, shading and a small reverse cycle unit all make a difference. So does which way the cabin faces on your block. What comes as standard and what is an option varies by model, so check the listing. Tell us how you want to use the room and we will go through the choices with you.

The range runs from compact cabins that suit a courtyard or a narrow side space, up to larger buildings with separate rooms. Roof styles and layouts vary too, from a traditional gable to a low flat roof. There are also corner designs that tuck into an unused corner of a yard. Yes. Every building is supplied as a flat-pack kit on pallets with the fixings and an illustrated step by step guide. The components are labelled so the parts go together in a set order. Plenty of owners build one themselves with a helper and basic tools. If you would rather not build it yourself, a builder or handyperson can follow the same guide. What is included with a particular kit is set out on its listing. Our team is on the phone or email while you build.

Start with the footprint on the listing, then add working room all the way around. Check the setbacks your council asks for from fences and boundaries. Look at height too if you are close to a neighbour. Check access for the pallets from the truck to the site. Think about which way the door and windows should face for light and privacy. Sometimes, yes. Our cabins are made to order. A change such as a different window or door position, or an altered size, is possible on some models and not on others. We will tell you what it does to the price and the lead time. Where a change is not practical we will point you to the closest model.

Your cabin arrives flat-packed on pallets by freight truck. We offer free freight to metro depots in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Request a freight quote if you live outside our free delivery zones.

From the depot you can pick up for free, or arrange delivery to your property with the depot. Items held in stock are dispatched within one to four business days. Made to order buildings take roughly eight to fourteen weeks. They're manufactured in Europe and shipped once your order is placed. The listing tells you which applies to the cabin you're looking at. We confirm the timing with you when you order.

We deliver across Australia. Free depot freight covers the Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney metro areas. For regional and remote addresses, please request a freight quote from us before you buy. Send us your postcode and the building you are interested in and we will provide a quote. Well looked after, a timber cabin lasts for decades. The timber is slow grown European spruce, kiln dried and sourced from FSC certified suppliers. That gives stable boards that hold their shape rather than twist. After that it comes down to care. Sit the building on a level foundation. Keep water moving away from the walls with gutters and good drainage, and coat the timber at the start. Refresh the coating in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended schedule. A wall in full sun or in coastal salt air needs attention sooner than a sheltered one.

Given the right care, Nordic spruce handles Australian weather well. It comes down to three things. How well you protect the timber, whether you use products suited to the job, and whether you keep up the maintenance.

Our cabins are built from slow grown European spruce, kiln dried and sourced from FSC certified suppliers. Apply a quality exterior finish with UV protection as soon as the cabin is built. Recoat on the schedule the manufacturer sets out. If you're in a bushfire or termite prone area, check your local requirements before you order. Ask us if you're not sure.

It depends on where you live. Approval is set by your state and your local council. It turns on floor area, height, siting and setbacks, and on overlays such as bushfire, heritage, flooding and easements. Many small structures are exempt, but the thresholds differ from one council to the next. Nothing here is legal advice.
