The Set number is the code for a particular configuration. It is a layout reference, not a size or a quality grade. A higher number does not mean a better room. Two rooms with the same footprint can be sold as different Sets when the walls and openings differ.

A glass garden room is built as a room out in the garden, not a space you step into from the hallway. The layouts pair solid walls with sliding glazed walls. Many of them give you a wall to put a lounge or a desk against.

Our sunrooms sit in their own collection and are chosen more for light and shelter close to the house. If you want that light directly off the back of the house, look at the sunrooms instead.

It can be, so plan the orientation. Put the long glazed wall where it picks up winter sun and sits in shade through a summer afternoon.

Sliding the walls fully open gives you cross ventilation. External shade does more than anything fitted inside, whether an eave, a pergola, an awning or a deciduous tree. A ceiling fan or a small split system covers the rest of the year.

The sliding walls are toughened safety glass set in aluminium frames. Single or double glazing depends on the glazing option, and the listing states which applies.

Locking varies by model and glazing option, so check the listing for what is supplied. If security matters where the room will sit, tell us before you order and we will confirm the hardware.

A level, sufficiently load bearing, well drained base. Level matters more here than on a solid walled building. The panels run in a track, so any twist or later settlement can leave a door binding.

A reinforced concrete slab is the usual answer. Concrete piers with bearers, or an engineered deck, can work where the ground falls away. Build it square and to the footprint in your assembly guide. Finish it before the pallets arrive, and make sure water drains away from the structure.

These are flat-pack kits for self assembly, supplied pre-cut with the fixings and an illustrated guide. A competent DIY builder with a helper can get the timber structure up.

The glazing is the part to plan for. The sliding panels are heavy and have to sit true in the track. Line up enough people for that stage or bring a trade in for it. Pack sizes and weights are listed on each product page.

It depends on where you live. Approval is set by your state and your local council. It turns on floor area, height, siting and setbacks, and on overlays such as bushfire, heritage, flooding and easements. Many small structures are exempt, but the thresholds differ from one council to the next. Nothing here is legal advice.

Treat the timber the way you would any exterior timber and it will keep looking good. Coat every face soon after assembly with a UV resistant exterior finish. Keep the base draining freely so water drains away from the structure. Refresh the coating in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended schedule.

The sliding walls add two small jobs. Keep the bottom track clear of grit and leaves so the panels run smoothly, and check the seals each year. Clean the glass with a mild detergent rather than anything abrasive.

Your glass garden room arrives flat-packed on pallets by freight truck. We offer free freight to metro depots in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney. Request a freight quote if you live outside our free delivery zones.

From the depot you can pick up for free, or arrange delivery to your property with the depot. Items held in stock are dispatched within one to four business days. Made to order buildings take roughly eight to fourteen weeks. They're manufactured in Europe and shipped once your order is placed. The listing tells you which applies to the glass garden room you're looking at. We confirm the timing with you when you order.
