The Barrel Sauna XL-EL is our largest barrel sauna, a genuine Nordic sauna built for the backyard. The round barrel measures 1.9 metres across and runs a full 3 metres long, giving a 7.4 cubic metre room that seats up to eight, with space for two to four to lie down.

Inside, deep dry heat loosens tired muscles, aids recovery and helps you unwind, and a little water on the hot stones throws a soft steam. Heat comes from a genuine Harvia Trendi KIP90 electric heater from Finland, rated at 9 kW and mounted low so the lower benches also get good steam. Electric suits a buyer who wants clean, simple operation at the turn of a dial, with no fire to tend and no chimney to manage.

The barrel is cut from kiln-dried certified Scandinavian spruce with extra-thick 58 mm side walls for insulation, held by stainless-steel bands and topped with a bitumen-shingle roof. A lockable door with a large window, plus tempered glass windows in the front and back walls, keep the interior bright.

Premium extras are included at no extra charge: two head rests, a thermometer and hygrometer, backrests, a wooden spoon and bucket set, a sauna light and cover, a clothes hanger, a stainless-steel door sill, and a safety fence for the heater.

Start with the supports. A barrel sauna sits on cradles rather than foundation joists, so the ground beneath needs to be level, have sufficient bearing capacity and free draining across the full 190 x 300 cm footprint, with the cradles bearing evenly on a solid surface. Pavers, a concrete pad or timber sleepers all work. Check that each cradle is carrying its share before assembly continues. If in doubt, always consult a foundation specialist.

Keep the packs flat, dry and off the ground until you are ready. Where the timber is supplied untreated, apply at least two coats of exterior finish to the outside faces and cut ends, and recoat before the finish starts to fail.

Assemble in the order shown in the provided manuals. Timber is a living material. It shrinks and expands with changes in temperature and humidity. This is normal, and it means occasional adjustments to the doors and tension straps over the first few months and with the seasons thereafter.

Delivery terms are shown on each product listing. Where a listing indicates depot delivery, delivery is free to our freight depots in the Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney metro areas, and quoted before purchase for destinations beyond those areas. Free warehouse pickup is available. Smaller items and accessories are sent by standard post or courier to your home address, with shipping shown at checkout.

Larger products are supplied as flat-pack kits on pallets. The number of pallets, their dimensions and their weights vary by product and are shown with each product.

You may collect your order from our warehouse or the depot, or arrange delivery from the depot to your final destination at your cost. Most depots offer delivery from the depot to your address. Unloading, access and any equipment required are organised by you with the depot or your chosen delivery provider.

Products held in stock are dispatched within 1 to 4 business days of receipt of payment. Made to order products carry a lead time of 8 to 14 weeks.

Our timber products are delivered as securely packaged, weatherproof flat packs. Construction materials, doors, windows, fixtures, hardware, and any optionally added products are included as detailed in the description. This ensures safe delivery and storage.
